China ENFI and Lygend Resources & Technology Co., Ltd. Sign the Project Design Contract for the Expansion of Production of the Indonesia OBI Nickel Project

Recently, China ENFI Engineering Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China ENFI") and Lygend Resources & Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Lygend") held a signing ceremony for the project design contract for the expansion of production of the Indonesia OBI Nickel Project.

The OBI Project is a large-scale smelting project constructed by Lygend under the national "Belt and Road" Initiative with Indonesia's HARITA Company to jointly develop local nickel ore resources. China ENFI previously undertook the design, core equipment supply and technical services for High-Pressure Acid Leaching and RKEF projects for nearly 150,000 tons of nickel products. The High-Pressure Acid Leaching Process Project had successfully produced products in May 2021, and the RKEF Project is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2022.After the production expansion project of OBI Nickel Project signed this time is fully put into operation, the OBI Project will become a large integrated nickel industrial park with 6 high-pressure acid leaching production lines, 20 RKEF production lines, nickel-cobalt refineries, stainless steel works, and supporting coal-fired power plants, terminals, and livable towns. It will achieve the annual processing capacity of nearly 10 million tons of low-grade nickel ore and 12 million tons of high-grade nickel ore, with a nickel metal output of more than 350,000 tons/year.

In this project, China ENFI and Lygend joined hands to dare to be pioneers in changing traditional foreign project operation ideas and carry out project construction using the model of "Chinese design, Chinese equipment, and Chinese construction speed". In the High-Pressure Acid Leaching Project, the two sides built the first modern nickel-cobalt smelter in Indonesia with Chinese efficiency, setting an industry record in terms of the shortest period for construction completion and commissioning, which attracted global attention. In the RKEF Project, the two sides upgraded and applied the latest domestic and international technological advancements, leading the industry's development direction with advanced processes and technologies with lower costs and emissions.

The OBI Project is a successful example of cooperation between China and Indonesia to jointly build the "Belt and Road". It is not only a successful combination of China's technological advantages and Indonesia's resources advantages, but also a successful practice of China ENFI and Lygend to complement each other's strengths and achieve win-win cooperation. The Project will create a demonstration base for China's technical standards to "go global" and make innovations, further promote the comprehensive utilization of nickel ore resources, and make outstanding contributions to ensuring the security and sustainable development of China's nickel resources supply chain.
